Founded in the 1830s by Thierry Hermès, it originally produced saddles, harnesses, horse tack and other equestrian items. It later began offering other leather goods, followed by watches, silk scarves and fine perfumes. It will come as no surprise that many of Hermès' fragrances are inspired by the scent of leather.
